6-Year-Old Girl Shot In South Sacramento Intersection

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies say a six-year-old girl only received non-life threatening injuries after being shot while riding with her mother in a car Tuesday night.

A mother and daughter were driving in the area of Fruitridge Road and Lawrence Drive around 7:30 p.m. when an unknown suspect fired off several rounds. hitting the girl in the arm, said Sacramento County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Tony Turnbull.

The mother of the girl took her to an area hospital where her injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Witnesses describe the suspect vehicle as a large white vehicle, possibly a van or SUV. Deputies have not released a description of the suspect or a motive in the shooting.
