Father Tricked Teen Daughter Into Sending Pornographic Images Of Herself

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — A central New York man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for posing as a teenage boy to lure his own 14-year-old daughter into sending him pornographic pictures of herself.

Federal prosecutors say the 41-year-old Herkimer County man used the fake name Dan Smithson to send sexually explicit text messages to the girl and strike up a romantic relationship with her.

Prosecutors say the father later faked the fictitious boy's suicide to persuade his daughter into sex.

In March, the man pleaded guilty to 12 counts of enticing a child to produce child pornography. In May, he was sentenced in Herkimer County Court to six years in prison for sexual abuse.

The man, whose name was not released to protect the victim, received the 20-year sentence for child pornography Tuesday in federal court in Syracuse.
