Person Of Interest Detained In South Lake Tahoe Attacks

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (CBS13) - Police have detained a person of interest in an assault case.

Investigators released two composite sketches after three eerily similar incidents were reported within the last year where at least two women were attacked.

Friday night detectives followed a tip that lead them to a person they say be involved.

"To have these victims recollect what had happened in detail especially in an assault case where it's very traumatic for the subjects, but they were able to pull through and focus in on one suspect so far," said Sgt. Travis Cabral with South Lake Tahoe Police.

Two weeks ago a visitor was attacked while doing laundry at a nearby complex and dragged into a closet where a man tried to sexually assault her.

"The victim was able to fight back and get away and report him to law enforcement," he said.

The next day, a Hispanic male on a dark colored BMX bicycle approached a local resident while in the driveway of her Ski Run Blvd home. He happened to have the same mannerisms and speech as the previous report. Her instincts lead her away from the man and back inside.

Investigators said that description matches the same report filed back in October. A woman walking on Park Avenue said a Hispanic male on a BMX bike threatened her with a gun, but she too was able to get away and took off running.

While one person is in custody, police have not released his name and any charges.

Investigators are still asking for the public's help. There could be more suspects involved in this case.
