Firefighters Recover Body From Burned Apartment

INCLINE VILLAGE (CBS13) -- The Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District have launched a joint investigation into an overnight structure fire in Incline Village that left one person dead.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on the morning of August 7, 2016, Sheriff's Office Deputies and fire personnel were dispatched to a structure fire on Tomahawk Trail, North of State Route 28.  When first responders arrived on scene, the structure was fully involved.

After several hours of firefighting efforts, crews were able to enter the structure and discover a subject deceased in the home.

Detectives and fire investigators are currently investigating the fire but have not yet determined the cause of the fire.

The cause of death will be determined by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office.
