Sleepy Suspect Arrested On Drug Charges In Stanislaus County

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Deputies arrested a man Thursday on drug charges who just couldn't keep his eyes open.

On Thursday night, authorities received the report of a suspicious vehicle parked along Goldmine Avenue in the city of Waterford. When Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department Deputy Petitt arrived on the scene, he walked up to a vehicle and found a man asleep in the driver's seat. He says a suspicious white powder was on the man's lap.

The deputy woke up the man, Fernando Vega Orozco, and a subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly turned up 28.5 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The white powdery substance was tested and reportedly turned out to be cocaine.

Orozco was booked into jail on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, a controlled substance, and marijuana.

He was apparently so tired that, after his arrest, he fell back asleep in the back of the deputy's vehicle.
