Man, 36, Suspected Of Starting Fire Along Highway 50

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – A transient is in custody suspected of intentionally setting a fire along Highway 50 Tuesday evening.

Crews responded to numerous grass fires along the freeway just west of Hazel Avenue on Tuesday. Several homes were threatened in the fires, but firefighters were able to make quick work of the flames.

One man, 36-year-old Charles Owen Andersen, was arrested in connection to the fires.

Andersen was booked at Sacramento County Jail and is facing a felony arson charge. He is being held on $50,000 bail, according to the jail website.
