Police: Intoxicated Restaurant Employee Attacks Co-Workers At Hawks Public House

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A restaurant employee dished up more than a serving when he allegedly attacked two fellow employees.

Investigators said it appeared the suspect was on drugs and the manager said it was completely out of character.

"This was completely unexpected and really unfortunate," said Esra Oktar, the general manager.

It happened at the Hawks Pubic House Monday afternoon on Alhambra.

Oktar was at home when she got the call.

"I feel like the staff feels like this is part of their home and we take a lot of ownership here and we all really look out for one another," she said.

Police said Princeton Melliza cornered an employee outside and repeatedly punched him, then went inside and hit another employee with a large combination lock he pulled from his pocket.

"He was a very good kid and I'm really sorry to hear that something happened yesterday," Oktar said she was as shocked as ever to hear it was one of their hardest workers. "Nobody has any idea (why). It was totally out of character for him and we were all very sad about it."

Hawks has only been open for 8 months in Sacramento. Oktra said nothing like this has ever happened and hopes nothing like it ever does again.

Melliza has been booked and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
