Man Who Fled Hit-And-Run Crash That Killed Grandmother Is In Custody

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The suspect in a hit-and-run crash that left two family members dead is now in custody.

Valentino Alvarez, 22, faces hit and run and vehicular manslaughter charges as well as driving without a license after a crash Wednesday night on the way home from a wake.

Elizabeth Hernandez, 64, of Hood and Lisa Fitzpatrick, 47, of Folsom died in the rollover crash on Hood-Franklin Road after the vehicle hit a timber truck. His father was also injured in the crash.

Officers say after the impact Alvarez fled the scene and flagged down another motorist who gave Alvarez a ride to a home in the town of Hood.
