4 Arrested In Violent El Dorado County Home Invasions

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) — The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office has arrested four men suspected of forcing entry into homes early Sunday morning and robbing the owners at gunpoint.

Sgt. Tasha Thompson with the Sheriff's Office says there were two home invasions and one attempted home invasion and it appears the suspects chose the homes at random. They took place in three separate neighborhoods.

Dorothy Dennin, who lives on Lago Vista Drive in El Dorado Hill, learned on Sunday afternoon that one of her neighbors was a victim. She realized she could have easily become a victim, too, since she heard knocking on her front door around 2:30 a.m. Instead of answering it, though, she hid.

"I just stayed close to the stairwell because my lights were on and I didn't want them to see through this," Dennin said, pointing to the window above the door.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says the suspects wore masks and hooded sweatshirts during the crimes.

It didn't take deputies long to make the arrests in the morning. One deputy noticed a suspicious-looking vehicle and made a traffic stop at a local Chevron gas station. All four men inside the vehicle were detained. Deputies say they found guns, masks, and several cell phones in the vehicle.

The suspects face charges of armed robbery and have been booked into the El Dorado County Jail.
