NFL May Fine Players For Wearing Cleats Honoring Sept. 11 Victims
An NFL player's decision to honor victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks may lead to a fine from the NFL.
Tennessee Titans linebacker Avery Williamson wore cleats bearing the date of the attack and "Never forget," a popular refrain in the wake of the attacks. Sunday marked the 15th anniversary of the attacks.
The NFL denied Williamson's request to wear the shoes and threatened him with a fine for violating the league's uniform code.
Williamson plans to auction the cleats with the proceeds going to a miliary charity
Also on Sunday, New York Giants receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz wore cleats honoring the victims of Sept. 11.
