Couple Finds Love At Toll Booth

At Alabama Jacks the party and the music rarely stops. The food and dancing bring in locals and tourists from all over. And if you want to get there you have to stop at the toll booth and see Ken Murray.

For almost 25 years the Card Sound Road toll booth has been Ken's post.

Day after day "Cars come, cars go" year after year. All of them kind of look the same until 2010 when a car came through that he'll never forget.

"I go to the toll booth every day," Patti Murray said.

"The long red hair, Alabama accent, nice looking girl, great personality just clicked," Ken Murray said.

"He took a chance and she took a chance and it blossomed," Don Crouch said.

On his shift, 1,500 cars per day pass by, but Patti's was the one he always looked for.

"I drive up snicker and drive off," Patti Murray said.

"It took her by surprise and she said "miss" and drove off," Ken Murray said.

"We just played this little game back and forth, gave him my phone number. He called me that night and we've been together ever since," said Patti Murray.

"The rest is history," said Ken Murray.

Ken got her phone number. Patti got her date. Four years later, they married.

"Who knew you'd meet your husband at the toll booth?" Patti Murray said.

He still charges her every day on her drive.

"He's worth a dollar," she said.
