Deadly Crash Involving Tomato Truck Sends 2 Off Yolo Causeway, Killing 1

YOLO COUNTY (CBS13) — A deadly chain-reaction crash has left one person dead after sending them off of the Yolo Causeway on Monday morning.

Tomatoes and debris littered the lanes after the early-morning crash.

The crash started when one vehicle rear-ended another vehicle heading eastbound on the Yolo Causeway, disabling one of the vehicles. Moments later, a tomato truck hit the disabled vehicle, sending it into the middle lane.

Another vehicle later struck two people standing in the road after the crash, sending them off the Yolo Causeway, killing one and sending the other to the hospital.

The crash snarled eastbound traffic on Interstate 80.
