Actors' Ages Could Disappear From IMDB Under New California Law

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A bill signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown would require sites like IMDB to take down information about an actor's age or birthdate from the site.

Assembly Bill 1687 requires commercial entertainment services to remove information about a paid subscriber's age within five days.

That would mean sites like the Internet Movie Database which have a paid professional option for subscribers in the entertainment industry would have to remove the data if that person requests it.

The law by Ian Calderon (D-Whittier) has been hailed as a victory against age discrimination, while many have come out against it, saying removing the factual information is a First Amendment violation.
