Man Sentenced For Online Threats Against Stem Cell Company After Planned Parenthood Videos

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Washington man was sentenced to a year in prison for threats he made against a Placerville stem cell company.

Prosecutors say Scott Anthony Orton, 57 of Puyallup, Washington, threatened to kill an officer of Stem Express in Placerville after videos purporting to show Planned Parenthood officials selling fetal tissue surfaced. A Texas grand jury cleared Planned Parenthood of any wrongdoing.

Orton posted on the Fox Nation website, "The management of StemExpress should be taken by force and killed in the streets today. Kill StemExpress employees. I'll pay you for it. He identified his target by name and said, "I'll pay ten grand to whomever beats me to [the target]."

Orton will spend a year and one day behind bars for transmitting interstate threats.

The undercover videos from the anti-abortion group Center For Medical Progress claimed to show Planned Parenthood officials selling fetal tissue for profit. A Texas grand jury cleared Planned Parenthood of wrongdoing and instead indicted activists David Daleiden of Davis and Sandra Merritt, accusing them of using fake driver's licenses to infiltrate the group.

A Texas judge cleared the duo in July, but the group still faces a lawsuit from Planned Parenthood.
