Sonora's All Hallows Fantasy Faire Bans Clown Costumes

SONORA (CBS13) - The recent increase in clown-related pranks across America has prompted organizers of Sonora's All Hallow Fantasy Faire, a two-day costume play event, to ban clown costumes.

Event organizers issued the following statement regarding the policy change:

"Throughout the country several pranksters have been arrested wearing clown outfits while haunting neighborhoods and schools. The Sonora All Hallows Fantasy Faire is a family oriented event and their organizers agree that this is a negative trend and has to be stopped and not supported. In the past the faire has had dozens of clown-costumed patrons at its event."

The ban will be "strictly enforced" at the entrance, say organizers. Signs will let patrons know that clown costumes will not be allowed before they arrive at the gate.

The faire is in its eight year. It takes place October 22 and 23 at Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora.
