RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – Verizon has announced they will be closing their call center in Rancho Cordova early next year.

A company representative confirmed the closure, noting that 1,000 positions are relocating to other call centers across the US.

“Verizon has made a very difficult, but necessary, business decision to close our Rancho Cordova, CA Customer Service and Telesales call center and relocate those jobs to other Customer Service call and telesales centers,” a Verizon official wrote in a statement.

Verizon officials say they will help employees looking for a job in the other areas. Employees who do not relocate will be offered separation packages, the company said.

The center will be open until Jan. 27, 2017.

  1. California drives away another major employer. Meanwhile, both HP (Roseville) and Intel (Folsom) have been steadily laying off or transferring jobs at their facilities. Neither have closed, but they are a hollow shell of what they used to be.
