Police Bust 14-County Crime Spree Targeting Gyms

VACAVILLE (CBS13) - Police recovered dozens of car keys, IDs, and hundreds of credit cards during a routine traffic stop -- all believed to have been stolen from gym locker rooms.

Reza Khouie was at least one of 50 victims who had their lock chopped and belongings gone.

"My stomach just sank and I realized what had happened immediately since it had just happened to someone else a week or two before," he said.

Reza and dozens more forced to, cancel cards, buy new phones and change their locks

"All the stuff that was on the table it's just a fraction of what was found in the car," said Sgt. Carey.

The bust was a great catch by CHP. A suspected drunk driver led them to finding Raul Ramos in the passenger seat. Police say Ramos was behind gym thefts from Rocklin to the Bay Area.

The driver Crystal Martinez and a third suspect Dominic Constantino were all arrested with a slew of charges.

"He appeared to be very busy and they hit multiple locations, in multiple cities, covering several different counties," said Carey.

Police said some of these thefts were so recent, they even found locks inside the thieves car. Now they're trying to reunite dozens of cards and keys back to their owners.

"They called back later on and said they had more of my things," said Reza.

He feels like one of the luckier ones. His car keys returned and now peace of mind his livelihood isn't in the wrong hands.

"They could just show up at my house or drive away with my car without anybody noticing," said Reza.

Ramos is facing felony ID theft and possession of stolen property.

Meanwhile, if you were a victim, check with police to see if they have your things.
