Sacramento's Parrot Planet Rocked By Vandals Twice In A Week

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A popular Sacramento bird store has boarded up its windows--bracing for more trouble after repeated acts of vandalism.

Parrot Planet had been hit by vandals throwing river rocks at its storefront windows twice in one week.

Sara Walter is the Parrot Planet general manager.

"And the person came with the rocks. They weren't in front of the store, they're not anywhere on this street," said Sara Walter.

The surveillance video at night shows the glass breaking, the birds going berserk, and a shadowy figure running away.

Some birds lost feathers from the stress of the attacks.

Guinness is a $20,000 Black Palm Cockatoo that was in the store when the glass shattered. The suspect never tried to take anything.

"And she's priceless to us," Walter

Parrot Planet is only the latest East Sacramento storefront targeted by this type of vandalism.

Two years ago half-a-dozen stores also had their windows broken with rocks.

"I think probably it's an obsession with our particular store at the moment," Walter said.

Now someone taking aim at this store full of colorful birds. A twisted act. Preying on Parrot Planet.
