After Downtown Sacramento Closure, Spinners Reopening In Land Park On Friday

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A downtown staple favorite for 28 years, known for its perfect cinnamon rolls, is finally reopening in a new location.

"I thought we were closed forever, but this one happened for us, so we can open again," said Sandy Taing who has been waiting a year in a half to get back to baking.

Serving up fresh dough daily is a labor of love at Spinners.

"I miss cooking and especially all of my customers, but they still keep calling to see when I'm open, so I'm ready to serve them again," she said.

For nearly three decades, Sandy was serving up Sacramento's finest gourmet cinnamon buns to the hard working folks downtown.

But with new arena and construction, their store was demolished. She says keeping Spinners open nearby wasn't an affordable option.

"We don't want to leave, but we had no choice. We got kicked out," she said.

Kicked out maybe, but welcomed in by her loving husband.

Larry Taing owns a gas station in Land Park and remodeled it so his wife could have her kitchen.

"When we closed in downtown, she had nothing to do, so we tried to open here and we'll work together," said Larry Taing.

They plan to do iit with the perfect recipe for love.

"We've been married a long time, we'll be fine," she said.

Just like Sandy's recipes for sweets.

"Her cinnamon rolls are top notch," said their son-in-law Gabe Martinez.

Martinez is helping them spread the words to get dessert fans back to their new spot.

"I think it's awesome for them and I think it's awesome for Sacramento to have Spinners again," he said.

A perfect paired business for all to enjoy.

"I'm ready to go!" Sandy said.

Spinners will be serving up treats once again from the dually shared business on Sutterville and South Land Park on Friday starting at 6 a.m.
