ROSEVILLE (CBS13) - An 18-year-old Loomis resident is under arrest after he allegedly ran over his own friend late Wednesday night.

Roseville police say officers responded to the end of Painted Desert Drive around 8:30 p.m. after a reported accident. At the scene, they found that a 16-year-old boy had been run over near the entrance to Adam Baquera Park.

Officers say an 18-year-old driving a Toyota Prius out of the park hit the other teen. The 18-year-old stayed at the scene and called 911, police say.

The 16-year-old, only identified as an Orangevale resident, was transported to the hospital and is suffering from major injuries. Officers arrested the 18-year-old on suspicion of driving under the influence. His identity has not been released.

Officers were at the scene until the early morning hours investigating the incident.
