Police: Suspects Try Burglarizing Elk Grove Home, Resident Fires Shot

ELK GROVE (CBS13) - Police say two people have been taken into custody after a reported car burglary that turned into a home burglary.

The scene is along the 8400 block of Modena Way. Elk Grove police say they got a report of a burglary just before 4:30 a.m. Friday. Two suspects were detained at the scene.

Investigators believe the suspects got a hold of a garage door opener and used it to try and burglarize a home.

During the attempted burglary, an occupant inside the home got a shotgun and fired a shot.

A man and woman have been taken into custody, police say. They have been identified as 39-year-old Mandie Blake and 25-year-old Daniel Ross, both Sacramento residents. Blake and Ross are facing burglary and conspiracy charges.
