Suspect Hurt In Crash Bolts From Hospital In Handcuffs

LA PALMA, Calif. (AP) — Police in Southern California are searching for a handcuffed car theft suspect who bolted from a hospital while being treated for injuries in a traffic collision.

La Palma police said Javier Anguiano escaped from custody early Sunday morning from the hospital in the Orange County suburb.

Police say he had been arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen car and possessing drugs.

Police say the 30-year-old had his hands cuffed in front of him, was wearing an unbuttoned plaid short-sleeved shirt, jeans and black loafers.

Police say the suspect is unarmed, but should be considered dangerous.
