California Concerns: Clinton And Trump On Immigration, Abortion, ISIS And The Economy
There are now less than 24 hours before America goes to the polls. Before you cast your ballot, take a look at where the presidential candidates stand on the big issues that have permeated this election season.
According to GoogleTrends, the top four issues Californians are searching about ahead of the election are immigration, abortion, ISIS and the economy.
Below are where the presidential candidates stand on each of these issues:
IMMIGRATION
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton says she will push for comprehensive immigration reform, which includes a pathway to citizenship for immigrants.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he will work to build a wall on the US-Mexico border. His official campaign website says Trump will make Mexico pay for the wall.
ABORTION
Clinton says she will defend and protect women's health and reproductive rights. She says she will proudly stand with Planned Parenthood.
Trump says he would support legislation and court decisions that would make abortion illegal. Backtracking an earlier comment where he said women should face "some form of punishment" if they undergo an abortion, a statement on Trump's campaign website says only doctors or anyone else who helps perform an abortion should be held legally responsible.
ISIS
Clinton says she will continue to push for taking out the Islamic State's strongholds in Iraq and Syria. She says she will both intensify the air campaign as well as push for a diplomatic resolution. She also says she'll do more to identify and stop domestic threats, including building intelligence and working to build a strong relationship with America's Muslim communities.
Trump's position mirrors Clinton's in many ways, including his vision to work with allies in the Middle East to help defeat ISIS. Trump's campaign differs in his pledge to push for new screening procedures for immigrants coming to America. Trump says he'll temporarily suspend immigration from countries with a "history of exporting terrorism."
ECONOMY
Clinton says she'll push for "an economy that works for everyone." Among the highlights of Clinton's plans include her pledge to make college debt-free for all Americans.
Trump says he aims to create 25 million new jobs over the next decade. Among the highlights of Trump's plans is his pledge to push for a "pro-growth tax plan," which he says will reduce the tax bill of working and middle-class taxpayers.
