Stockton Mayor: Michael Tubbs Opens Large Lead Over Anthony Silva

STOCKTON (CBS13) — Stockton City Councilman Michael Tubbs has opened up a wide margin on incumbent Mayor Anthony Silva in Tuesday's general election.

With roughly 44 percent of the precincts counted, Tubbs has a 70.6 percent to 29.4 percent lead over Silva.

Tubbs won the June primary by eight points over Silva, setting up Tuesday's matchup.

Since that primary, Silva launched a campaign blitz as he faced felony charges over recording an alleged strip-poker game at a youth camp. His charges were later reduced to misdemeanors, including recording the game at his Amador County youth camp in 2015.

Tubbs, meanwhile, picked up millions in campaign donations from inside and outside of Stockton. His campaign last week boasted an endorsement from President Barack Obama.
