3 Bats Found At UC Davis Test Positive For Rabies
DAVIS (CBS13) – Health officials in Yolo County are warning people to stay away from bats after three found recently tested positive for rabies.
A total of seven bats were found on the UC Davis campus the past few weeks, the Yolo County Sheriff's Office says. Health officials tested four of the bats and found that three of them had the rabies virus.
UC Davis officials say the bats were found near Valley Hall in the Health Sciences District.
The school says they're now trying to locate the potential bat roost.
Yolo County says finding bats infected with rabies in the area is not rare, especially in fall and spring seasons.
Anyone who finds a bat on the ground or out during daytime should report the incident to Yolo County Animal Services.
