People Seem To Think Sesame Street Threw Shade At Trump

A tweet from Sesame Street set off a Twitter storm the other day.

The children's show tweeted "Did you know that there's a MONSTER on Twitter?"

People then went off on that.

Sesame Street got reply after reply of people saying things like "Yeah, we just made him president" and "yes, he's America's new president-elect" – referring, of course, to Donald Trump.

There was even a Trump-esque monster on Sesame Street at one point – and someone dug up a GIF of the character. It was when Trump was still on "The Apprentice" reality show back in 2005.

The Muppet, which looked a lot like Oscar the Grouch, was named Donald Grump and bragged about having the most trash.

But while the internet speculated that Sesame Street was making a political statement, a furry blue monster named Grove started tweeting, too.

First, he seemed scared that there was a monster on Twitter – telling people to stop re-tweeting him so he can log off.

After a flurry of panicked tweets, Grove finally realized he is in fact the only monster around.

Turns out, it was all leading up to a message celebrating the 45th anniversary of "The Monster at the End of this Book," which features Grover.
