Woman Rescued After Rolling 70 Feet To Ledge Above American River

FAIR OAKS (CBS13) – Rescue crews saved a woman from a ledge above the American River in Fair Oaks.

Just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday, fire crews were called to a home for reports of an overdose. But when they arrived, the woman was gone.

Officers pinged her phone and used a California Highway Patrol helicopter with infrared technology and found her lying on a ledge above the river.

The 46-year-old woman was unresponsive and had rolled 70 feet down.

Crews used an ambulance as an anchor and were able to rescue her using a rope system.

The woman is now recovering at the hospital.
