Northstar Employee, 35, Dies After Incident On Mountain

NORTHSTAR (CBS13) - An employee of Northstar California Resort was killed in an incident on the mountain Sunday.

Northstar officials say ski patrol responded to an incident on the beginner trail. It is unclear what exactly happened, but Northstar officials are describing it as a "serious incident" involving a 35-year-old employee.

The Northstar Fire Department declared the man dead at the scene.

"Northstar California Resort, Northstar Ski Patrol and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our employee's family and friends; we are all devastated by the loss of this member of our team," said Nadia Guerriero, Northstar California Resort's vice president and general manager in a release.

The man's identity has not been released, but he is said to be a resident of Kings Beach.

His death is the second ski-related death in the Sierra over the weekend. A skier died in an avalanche on Mt. Rose. His body was recovered on Sunday.
