With the holidays quickly approaching, many families are looking to get those holiday family photos done and sent out to their loved ones. For some Sacramento families, city landmarks provide the best backdrops for these family portraits. McKinley park is quite possibly the most popular and beloved park in all of Sacramento. Located in East Sacramento, this park has provided residents an oasis within the city for several generations. In addition to the upgraded pond area, there are plenty of wonderful trees and the cherished rose garden that will provide a beautiful backdrop for your family photos. Although, most of the roses won't be in bloom for the holidays, it still provides a tranquil scene for your photos.

The Tower Bridge is easily one of the most iconic landmarks in all of Sacramento. This bridge spans across the Sacramento River and is roughly 738 feet long. It's on the National Register of Historic Places and is a wonderful platform for stunning backgrounds of downtown Sacramento, the Sacramento River and the historic Old Sacramento. It's also the one place that can add beautiful reflections of the night sky and the riverfront.

California's State Capitol is one of the most incredible buildings in the entire state. Its history and iconic status is enough to make people flock from all over to see this place. However, its Capitol Park is the place for holiday photos. With groves of trees and plenty of flowers, this area is a beautiful landscape for any time of the year. Additionally, when the Capitol adds its large Christmas tree in the front and the Christmas lights, you won't find a better place for holiday cheer, beauty and history.

What's a holiday or Christmas photo without a church setting? However, this isn't just any ordinary or average church. The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament is the most beautiful, recognizable and visited church in all of Sacramento. The church was originally built in the 1880's and had an Italian Renaissance exterior with a Victorian style interior. At its highest point, the church is 215 feet. It can be seen on just about any skyline photo or downtown landscape as it perfectly sits near the heart of downtown. Not only does the exterior provide a wonderful backdrop, but the interior will really take your family photos to the next level.

The most historical landmark in all of Northern California is Sutter's Fort. Located off L Street, Sacramento's most cherished structure is a fantastic option for holiday family photos. In addition to the fort itself as the backdrop, there's a scenic pond and trees for photos and the interior of the fort. The inside of the fort does have holiday decorations at times, which will aid in the overall festive scenery that you are trying to capture in your photos. Additionally, you might catch a reenactment or two that could also add that uniqueness and personal touch to your family photos.
