Thieves Steal Modesto Woman's Car From Parking Lot, Then Ransack Her Home

MODESTO (CBS13) – A woman was left stranded at a supermarket while thieves ransacked her home.

It happened off of Floyd Avenue Wednesday, after grocery shopping she realized her keys were gone and so was her car.

"I feel violated and I feel victimized," said Gyda Noll. "The man that stole my car must have looked in the glove compartment, got my registration, went right to my house."

Luckily her son was nearby, but there wasn't much he could do.

"My dad calls me and says, 'Oh my gosh, someone has stolen your mother's car and there's an alarm going off at the house can you go over there now and check out what's going on?'" said her son David Noll.

He shot this video and found the car in the driveway, but waited for police.

"I was starting to think, well is it one guy or is it five guys? Do they have shotguns?" he said.

Within minutes police arrived, but the suspect took off and after a short pursuit he was gone.

"I thought, how dare he take that from my mom and take advantage of an elderly lady," he added.

By Friday, police were able to locate the car just a few blocks away and in good condition.

"I prayed that it would all be in one piece and that the angels would protect it and they did," she said.

However, they know where she lives and says she'll be ready if anyone comes back.

Police say you can make a copy of your registration and black out your home address, or take your registration with you instead, so this doesn't happen to you too.

As for a suspect, police are still investigating and hope surveillance video can help them track him down.
