UPDATE: Fans Mourn Pioneer Cabin Tree After It Falls During Storm

The Pioneer Cabin tree, known for having a hole that allowed visitors to drive or walk underneath it, was toppled by the storm, the Calaveras Big Trees Association posted on Facebook.

Park rangers said the historic tree fell around 2 p.m. Sunday and shattered upon impact. It's believed the tree's shallow roots may have caused the collapse.
