Officer Shoots, Kills Suspect In Modesto
MODESTO (CBS13) – An officer-involved shooting in Modesto left an officer hospitalized and one man dead.
According to Modesto Police Department, an officer was assaulted and shots were fired during a fight on Maserati Drive, near Coffee Road and Sylvan Avenue, late Monday night.
Police said they had originally responded to the scene after a woman called 911 to report a family disturbance.
When officers got the scene, an altercation ensued between a man and officers. Officers tried to use stun guns, but at least one officer fired his weapon and hit the suspect.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was taken to a local hospital for a head injury.
Police have not identified the man killed in the shooting.
