LINCOLN (CBS13) – Explosive ordnance disposal crews have detonated a mortar discovered in rural Lincoln.

Lincoln police say a resident along the 2600 block of Moore Road reported Tuesday afternoon that he had found what looked like a mortar on his property.

Authorities soon called an EOD team from Beale Air Force Base to help them deal with the situation.

The crew from Beale decided to detonate the device. It was exploded in its place; some residents reported hearing the explosion.
