Hiker Dies After 100' Fall Down Cliff In Placer County

TRUCKEE (CBS13) – A hiker has died after falling 100 feet down a cliff near Lake Tahoe, authorities say.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office says their search and rescue team responded to Granite Chief Mountain near Olympic Valley to rescue three stranded hikers.

The Truckee Fire Department along with search and rescue made their way to the fallen hiker. That hiker, who was from Truckee, died.

The two other hikers were rescued.

Authorities have not released the identity of the hiker who fell.
