2 Arrested At Stephon Clark Shooting Protest Released From Jail

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Two protesters were arrested during a chaotic night of protesting near the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.

The group of protesters was demonstrating in the parking lot of the district attorney's office Thursday, and some were allegedly blocking vehicles and employees from leaving. According to a statement from the Sacramento Police Department, 38-year-old Leslie Vantruharper and 37-year-old Marilyn Price were arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of failure to disperse and Price as also wanted on a warrant.

Black Lives Matter protesters gathered at the jail, saying they weren't leaving until those taken into custody were released. They finally left around 11 p.m.

A bicyclist hit at the protest was also hit by a police car. The condition of the bicyclist isn't known.

Black Lives Matter has held protests outside the district attorney's office three days a week for the past three weeks. They say the protests will continue until charges are announced against the two officers who shot Stephon Clark.

The death of Clark has prompted a national discussion on police violence. Clark was shot to death in his grandmother's backyard after police say he broke into vehicles in the neighborhood on March 18.

Police released body camera and helicopter camera video showing Clark's final moments, including the quick decision by police to open fire. Officers in the video could be heard saying Clark had a gun, but later evidence showed no gun, just a cellphone.
