SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – More than a hundred golfers joined some of country music’s artists on the green Tuesday in the hopes of striking a chord for kids in need.

“If you can play guitar and raise money for people in need, then that’s a win-win,” country musician Josh Abbott said.

Even legends like Kix Brooks, formerly of Brooks and Dunn, and host Jack Ingram were thrilled to swap their usual denim digs for polo shirts and khakis at Haggin Oaks.

“It ust makes you feel blessed,” Brooks said. “I’m pretty much always in.”

“You’re opening yourself up, you’re opening your life up,” Ingram said. “Most of us are all the same. We’re all trying to figure it out and make it happen for our families and our children.”

The event – run by local radio station KNCI – will benefit two local children’s charities.

A concert featuring The Farm, one of the hottest new acts in Country Music, followed the golf tournament.  Before their post-tournament concert, the band made a stop at the Good Day Sacramento studio to perform a few songs and promote Golf and Guitars.

Event organizers hoped to raise $60,000.

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 1,600 museums across the country will offer free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families this summer in a program that has more than doubled in size since 2010.

The expanded Blue Star Museums initiative was announced Tuesday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York where more than 40 museums are participating. The offer of free admission runs from Memorial Day until Labor Day.

The program began in 2010 as a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Defense Department. It’s adding 300 new museums this year.

New participants include the American Civil War Center in Richmond, Va., the New Mexico Museum of Space History, San Francisco’s Children’s Creativity Museum and the World Figure Skating Museum in Colorado.

The network will finish the season as America’s most-watched network for the ninth time in the last 10 years.

“These new series feature a great range of bold concepts, rich characters, big stars and fresh faces,” said Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment, in a written announcement released this morning.

The following shows will make their debut on the network in the fall: “Elementary,” a contemporary take on detective Sherlock Holmes in New York City, starring Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu; “Vegas,” a drama inspired by a real-life sheriff and his battle with a mobster in 1960s Las Vegas, starring Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis; “Made in Jersey,” starring Janet Montgomery as a smart first-year lawyer with a working-class background practicing at a prestigious New York City firm; and “Partners,” a comedy about two very different life-long best friends and business partners, starting David Krumholtz and Michael Urie.

CBS is also sticking with its crowd-pleasers, including “NCIS,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Person of Interest” and “2 Broke Girls.”

The network reshuffled some of its shows’ times, creating a comedy night on Monday with with its new comedy “Partners” and “2 Broke Girls” sandwiched in between “How I Met Your Mother” and “Mike & Molly.”

“Two and a Half Men,” will move to Thursday.   “The Mentalist,”  shifts from Thursday to Sunday.

The cast of another continuing CBS show “Blue Bloods,” including Tom Selleck, rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange this morning, the day of the announcement, which will be followed later today with a presentation for advertisers..

CBS is about to win another season in the ratings race, by the largest margin by a winner over a second-place network in 23 years.

Celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien says clothing created by Jackson’s longtime costume designers will be exhibited in South America, Europe and Asia before being sold to the highest bidder in December.

The exhibit opens May 18 at the Museo de la Moda in Santiago, Chile. It features items such as Jackson’s Captain EO shirt, the black spandex outfit from his “Scream” video and the breakaway suit he wore during his BAD tour in the late 1980s.

The items will be sold by Julien’s Auction on December 2, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Guide Dogs of America and Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.

A federal judge in Los Angeles on Monday rejected a lawsuit by two music publishers that argued Victor Willis had no right to regain at least partial ownership of 33 songs he co-wrote under contract. It’s the first test of a decades-old copyright provision and could mean millions in additional royalties for Willis.

The former San Diego resident tells UT San Diego that the ruling benefits all songwriters.

But Stewart Levy, an attorney for Scorpio Music and Can’t Stop Productions, tells the New York Times that it doesn’t lay out how much Willis will get and the case is far from over.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom house in La Habra was scheduled to be sold to the highest bidder in a foreclosure auction Monday.

But the company organizing the auction, Priority Posting and Publishing Inc., announced that the bidding has been rescheduled for May 21.

Priority Posting says the delay was agreed to by trustees involved in the sale.

Suleman is the mother of 14 children, including octuplets born in 2009.

She recently declared bankruptcy, listing assets of no more than $50,000 and debts of as much as $1 million.

Her father bought the home for her two years ago with a $115,000 down payment and $450,000 promissory note.

Records show she owes more than $475,000 on the house.
