My Sisters House GalaMy Sister's House celebrated its 17th anniversary at the Crest on May 21st with timely performances by civic, corporate and community leaders from throughout the Sacramento region performing songs related to this year's theme, "RISE". Acts included songs from Hamilton, The Greatest Showman, and "Praying" with local me-too advocates. Funds raised support services for domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking victims. The event also honored the following Heroes of Hope including (volunteer hero) Nancy Woo; (law enforcement hero) (Seargent John Sydow, Sac County Sheriff's); and (corporate hero) Dignity Health. My Sister's House is a non-profit which specializes in providing services for Asian /Pacific Islander and other underserved victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes FundraiserOn May 20, WEAVE hosted the 8th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes presented by Western Health Advantage. More than 800 men, women, and children walked the mile to take a stand against domestic and sexual violence. Together with the event sponsors, they raised more than $250,000 to support crisis intervention services in our community. The event debuted a new location at Crocker Park to rave reviews! Event Chairs were Patrick Harbison of PHPR and Jason Poole of Preservation and Company.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2018 Man & Woman CampaignAt the annual Grand Finale Gala held at the Hyatt Regency on May 12th, the winners of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2018 Man & Woman of the Year campaign were announced. Josh Corell of Tri Counties Bank was named Man of the Year, and Drisha Leggitt of Anpac Bio was named Woman of the Year. Four men and four women business leaders were candidates in this year’s fundraising competition. The Greater Sacramento Area Chapter of LLS also had its first ever All Star Candidate, Delbert Stapp of Harv’s Car Wash. All Stars are alums of the campaign that compete on a national level with other All Stars in LLS Chapters across the country. Together the Man and Woman of the Year campaign, which includes the All Star, raised over $450,000 to support blood cancer research, new lifesaving therapies and vital patient services. Man & Woman of the Year is philanthropic competition to support blood cancer research among a group of motivated and dedicated individuals in communities across the United States. Candidates form powerful fundraising teams and compete in honor of children who are blood cancer survivors.
JDRF One Party Gala FundraiserOn May 11th the JDRF Northern California Inland Chapter presented ONE Party Gala at the Hyatt Regency, downtown Sacramento honoring Bob Pole, CMO and Partner, Dome. An evening to support JDRF’s mission to create a world without type 1 diabetes.
