There are 1,800 personnel working the fire, focusing on the area around Yankee Jims Road and the community of Iowa Hill. No structures have been damaged yet but 150 homes have been evacuated, affecting about 300 people.
The Red Cross moved its evacuation center on Friday afternoon from the Veterans Memorial Hall in Forestill to the high school, located at 23319 Foresthill Road. Residents displaced by the fire can go there for food, shelter and counseling services. The larger high school site also has showers available.
