THE COUNCIL Pitch First Fundraiser for NonprofitsThe Council – A local all male organization aiming to help local charities on a quarterly basis was on April 26th at House Kitchen and Bar,downtown Sacramento. The concept: The Council is comprised of 100 men who agree to each donate $100 at four gatherings a year. At each gathering, the men will hear pitches from three local non-profits. At the end of the pitches, the men will vote by silent ballot for whichever non-profit they felt gave the best presentation. Whichever non-profit receives the most votes will walk away with $10,000 for its organization. Checks will be made out by each individual on-site and will be given directly to the charity. Each $100 donation is tax deductible. Founding members; Dave Harmon, Patrick Harbison, Greg Wellman, David Sobon, Cory Harris, Tim Harris and Shelby Elias Networking: The Council is envisioned to be a wonderful opportunity from men across various professional sectors to network and mingle. The goal is to provide long-term value to deserving causes - but also to have fun and create a socially and professionally viable atmosphere as well.
Weave Fundraiser WALK A MILE IN HER SHOESOn April 23, 944 men took to the streets in high heels and literally "walked a mile in her shoes" to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault. Their efforts raised more than $312,000 to support WEAVE's 24/7 crisis intervention services for survivors in our community with 100% of the funds raises used for local services. WEAVE's Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is the largest men's walk against gender based violence in the world. This annual fundraiser has changed how our entire region works collectively to build a community that does not tolerate domestic violence and sexual assault. It has raised more funds to ensure survivors have the resources they need to be safe and thrive.

THE RIVER DISTRICT HOSTED 4th ANNUAL PINK THE BOULEVARD TO RAISE BREAST CANCER AWARENESSTHE RIVER DISTRICT HOSTED 4th ANNUAL PINK THE BOULEVARD TO RAISE BREAST CANCER AWARENES with almost 20 businesses on or near Richards Boulevard to PINK the Boulevard with the installation of 1,000 pink ribbons to honor the nearly 1,000 individuals who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year in Sacramento country on May 7th. The community awareness campaign, which invites businesses and business leaders to Light Up, Decorate & Donate, is both a fundraiser for the Komen Sacramento Valley affiliate and a community awareness campaign created to remind area residents and businesses about the upcoming Race for the Cure.
