San Juan Foundation “An Evening with the Stars” FundraiserThe10th Anniversary of An Evening with the Stars annual fundraiser celebrating excellence in education was held at Arden Hills Resort and Spa Country Club on October 14th. This year's Emcee is KVIE's Rob Stewart of Rob on the Road. 2016 Hall of Fame Honorees include: Alex Honnold, Rock Climber- Mira Loma High School; Kevin Gordon, President and Founding Partner, Capitol Advisors Group- San Juan High School; and Amy Brooks, Executive Vice President, Team Marketing & Business Operations at National Basketball Association -Bella Vista High School. The fundraiser is for teacher grants in Science, Technology, Arts, and Reading (STARS) for 40,000 K-12 students in SJUSD
Chevo Foundation Fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease and ResearchFundraiser was on Oct 14th with Host Gregory Scott. The mission is to raise resources for Parkinson’s research, support and education. All of the proceeds will be used to help raise awareness and resources for Parkinson’s research and education for those directly and indirectly affected by the disease, and awareness of those not yet diagnosed. Chevo Ramirez is a longtime philanthropist in Northern California and can be considered a local hero to some. He has helped to build and support hundreds of organizations and high impact service initiatives in Northern California over the past 30 years. In October of 2011, Chevo publicly announced that he has Parkinson’s Disease, and expressed his interest to do everything he could to raise an unprecedented level of resources and awareness to help those in need.

Junior League of Sacramento Touch-A-Truck FundraiserOn October 9th at Raley Field, the Junior League of Sacramento held their annual event, Touch-A-Truck Fundraiser. Touch‐a‐Truck is an educational community event that provided children a hands‐on opportunity to see and touch the heavy machinery and meet the people who operate it. Funds raised from this event will support JLS community programs, including Read & Feed, Kids in the Kitchen, Done in a Day, and other programs and events serving the greater Sacramento community. Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce PERSPECTIVES ON LEADERSHIPSacramento Metro Chamber and its board of directors, welcomed nearly 800 members from throughout the region, to the Sacramento Convention Center for the 2016 Perspectives on Leadership: Redefining the Rules on October 7th. The audience heard from leaders in varying industries and walks of life as they shared their personal journeys, the importance of failure and significance of risk. They discovered how their experiences shaped who they are today, and how they stood tall when faced with opposition.
