49ers Send Message In Tennessee & NFL Musings

By Dave “Deuce” Mason The Seahawks (6-1) may be the class of the NFC West but the San Francisco 49ers aren’t going away quietly. San Francisco (5-2) has won four straight games after a 31-17 win over the Tennessee Titans, and the 49ers are doing what they do best on offense–running the ball. Frank Gore […]

Deuce’s Dish: Kings Preseason Observations

By Dave “Deuce” Mason Cousins off to nice start-Expectations are very high for Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins. He signed a contract extension this offseason, the team brought in Shaquille O’Neal to mentor him and head coach Michael Malone in early October said that he believes Cousins is an all-star caliber player. Cousins is averaging […]

Sports Blog: Heated Heart

Watching the Kings/Heat game yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice the intensity our young team brought to the defending NBA Champions. Even when they were down with a few minutes to play, they literally willed their way back to force overtime.

Sports Blog: Painful Loss But A Bright Future

Watching the San Francisco Forty-niners line up on the Baltimore 5-yard line with just under 3 minutes left in the Super Bowl, it occurred to me that maybe the Ravens should consider letting them score quickly so they would have plenty of time for their own game winning drive. That’s why I’m not an NFL […]

‘Colin’ The Wrong Play?

The quarterback controversy in San Francisco is officially over. Forget the intentional grounding penalty that gave the Rams their first points, or the ill-advised pitch over Ted Ginn’s head, resulting in the Rams only touchdown. Let’s ignore Kaepernick’s failure to stay in bounds on the final Niner possession, giving the Rams a chance to mount their own game tieing […]

Sports Blog: A Kick For Sac State

For the second year in a row, the Sacramento State Hornets have beaten a Pac-12 team on the final play of the game. This  year it was walk-on kicker, Edgar Castaneda, nailing a 30-yard field goal on the final play of the game to the shock of Colorado Buffalo fans on their home field. But that’s […]

Sports Blog: Knapp For Raiders

Watching the painful display that was the Oakland Raiders home opener, I couldn’t help but notice former CBS13  intern Greg Knapp on the sidelines calling plays for the silver and black. Yes, Greg is the pride and joy of Sacramento State, having quarterbacked the Hornets during the 1980’s and even spending some time in the […]
