The 2013 NFL Draft will take place this week, so let’s take a look at which holes each team in the AFC West needs to fill to have a successful draft.
After almost a week of waiting, head coach Dennis Allen makes it official by naming Terrelle Pryor as his starting quarterback in Sunday’s finale at San Diego. Pryor hasn’t started a game since he won the 2011 Sugar Bowl while at Ohio State. Cornerback Philip Adams is on injured reserve with a groin injury and has been replaced by Brandian Ross.
The 6-9 Chargers have failed to make the playoffs for a third straight year. Head coach Norv Turner will likely not return for the 2013 campaign. San Diego is led by quarterback Philip Rivers, running back Ryan Mathews, receiver Malcom Floyd, and tight end Antonio Gates.
Six straight losses was enough for the Raiders, who finally are back in the win column. Oakland improved to 4-10 and ensured they will not have the top draft pick in 2013. More importantly, the Raiders are looking for some consistency with two games remaining.
Although the Chiefs are 2-10, the Raiders will be rooting for their rivals to beat the Cleveland Browns. The more wins the Raiders have, the lower their first round draft pick will be.
