A northern California labor union says contracts talks with Raley’s supermarkets have broken down and a strike has been called.
Raley’s has until midnight Saturday to reach a deal with the employees’ union, or thousands of workers could walk off the job.
Embroiled in drawn-out contract negotiations with its union workers, Raley’s announced the closure of two more of its stores in Northern California on Friday.
Several people picketed Sunday in Elk Grove with hopes of saving their favorite neighborhood grocery store.
Sacramento-based Raley’s Family of Fine Foods is closing two stores in the region.
