Oakland and New York take the field Sunday with a lot of injury questions and concerns, as both teams fight to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
Sure, the New York Giants started 0-6, but they’ve won their last two games now, and coming off a bye week, they’ll be ready to host Oakland.
Brandon Jacobs was suspended by the 49ers after his continued complaints on Twitter about his lack of playing time. There are two sides to every story and there was some validity to Jacobs’ grumblings, but his decision as to how to handle the situation gave the team the perfect chance to release him, so it’s almost a surprise that they chose to only suspend him.
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh missed his first full practice since taking over the team due to an irregular heart beat, and although the team says he will be fine, there is still some concern. One player not concerned is running back Brandon Jacobs, who took a shot at Harbaugh on Twitter.
The San Francisco 49ers have wrapped up the first half of their season, and they are right where they want to be. Much of their status is due to the elevation in play of both Michael Crabtree and Ahmad Brooks. The team also has Brandon Jacobs and Mario Manningham still ready to make their presence felt.
The match up to watch on Sunday will be Carlos Rogers vs. Victor Cruz. As with San Francisco and New York both are very talented and have developed a bit of a rivalry since Rogers mocked Cruz’s touchdown celebration. This will mark the 3rd time the two have faced each other with both winning a previous meeting. Whichever player gets the better of their opponent Sunday will give their team a great chance at winning the game.
The news this week around 49er camp is the naming of Patrick WIllis as NFC Defensive Player of the Week. However, he has had to share the headlines with Brandon Jacobs, who has announced that he is ready to get back on the field.
The 49ers are been lucky enough to stay healthy so far this year and may have Ted Ginn Jr. back as early as Sunday. The Vikings on the other hands have players missing on both sides of the ball and will have to upset the 49ers and do it short handed.
The San Francisco 49ers released their injury report listing Brandon Jacobs and Ted Ginn Jr. as questionable. Both are still considering playing and will be a game time decision. Due to the depth at both positions though its likely that both sit out to get healthy. Kyle Williams will step in for Ginn and will have a chance to prove himself after letting his teammates down the last time he was asked to return punts.
