The California Highway Patrol is looking for a suspect who planted a pipe bomb along Highway 50 in Sacramento on Wednesday.

Michael C. Bower, 29, of Dixon pulled in his tow truck at around 7:50 p.m. on Monday night on westbound Highway 50 near Jefferson Boulevard. The truck was having mechanical issues, and he placed emergency triangles at the back of his truck as a precaution for other drivers.
The California Highway Patrol is searching for a big rig that may have hit the tow truck driver, who was outside of his vehicle on westbound Highway 50. Officers say the big rig driver may not have known they hit the tow truck driver as it appears they were struck by a trailer.
“In that particular area, [Highway] 50 and [Interstate] 80, there have been a lot of wildfires, which means there is less vegetation, and the animals need to travel forward to forage,” she said.
Investigators are looking for witnesses who saw the person throwing three kittens from a car on Highway 50 early Friday morning.
