It looks like the World Series will go the distance and seven games for the second straight year.
While the San Francisco Giants were extremely lucky to not have to face their opponent’s best pitcher in the playoffs this week due to a random injury, their counterparts in the East Bay were tremendously unfortunate to see the best pitcher on the planet twice — so it didn’t end well for the Oakland Athletics Thursday night, as they lost Game Five of their playoff series to see their season end all too soon.
The Oakland Athletics are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2006, and they have a chance to get some revenge on the team that knocked them out in the ALCS that year: the Detroit Tigers. But it won’t be easy in Game 1 against Justin Verlander.
