Friday afternoon, the three-story garage with more than 300 spaces was mostly empty. There were no visible security personnel around the building, but there were signs stating the garage had video surveillance.

In August, a young boy somehow managed to walk up to a Lodi Police SWAT officer at a children’s event and pull the trigger. That officer was hit in the leg and was taken to the hospital.
“It doesn’t have an external safety or anything like that,” said Lt. Sierra Brucia with the department. “The gun functioned how it was supposed to. When the trigger was pulled, the gun went off.”
A suspect in a Calaveras County murder was arrested after a pursuit involving Lodi Police and the California Highway Patrol.
