The San Francisco 49ers have wrapped up the first half of their season, and they are right where they want to be. Much of their status is due to the elevation in play of both Michael Crabtree and Ahmad Brooks. The team also has Brandon Jacobs and Mario Manningham still ready to make their presence felt.
The match up to watch on Sunday will be Carlos Rogers vs. Victor Cruz. As with San Francisco and New York both are very talented and have developed a bit of a rivalry since Rogers mocked Cruz’s touchdown celebration. This will mark the 3rd time the two have faced each other with both winning a previous meeting. Whichever player gets the better of their opponent Sunday will give their team a great chance at winning the game.
After failing to do anything offensively last week, there will be pressure on the offense to put some points on the board, and that will have to come by air. Smith and his receivers will need to get up to speed if they want to avoid another loss by only scoring 13 points like last week.
Wide receiver Mario Mannigham hasn’t seen much play this preseason, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be ready to match up with the Giants this October. Will the 49ers get their redemption with the help of Mannigham and his reliable “clutch gene” this season?
