SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) — Former San Francisco 49er’s wide receiver Michael Crabtree said that he felt like he couldn’t see after a hit on one of the last plays of this year’s Super Bowl. Crabtree […]
Police in San Francisco said Friday they are investigating a sexual assault allegation involving 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree.
When the New York Giants beat San Francisco last year in the NFC Championship Game, it was the 49ers’ inability to make a big play offensively that was a big reason for the loss. The team used the off season to address this problem, and as they find themselves one win away from the Super Bowl, the offense looks nothing like the one that let them down in this very game a year ago.
The perception around 49er Nation is that the team needs to get Vernon Davis back into the offensive flow if they want to have a chance at the Super Bowl. The is not completely accurate though. In fact his decrease statistically is actually a good thing as it points to a more balanced attack for a team that was one dimensional a year ago.
For a game that figured to have little scoring, one team had no problems putting points on the board. With back-up quarterback Colin Kaepernick running the show, the San Francisco 49ers beat the Chicago Bears up and down the field and once again put themselves in the conversation as the best team in the NFC.
The San Francisco 49ers have wrapped up the first half of their season, and they are right where they want to be. Much of their status is due to the elevation in play of both Michael Crabtree and Ahmad Brooks. The team also has Brandon Jacobs and Mario Manningham still ready to make their presence felt.
ESPN’s NFL Power Rankings have the 49ers looking down at the rest of the league. The team was a unanimous pick as they are miles in front of their competition in the early season. With a young team they are only poised to get better moving forward.
The San Francisco 49ers took the lead early and never looked back in their 27-19 win over the Lions. Led by Alex Smith, they scored just enough to keep the game out of reach and recovered an onside kick late to seal the win.
Michael Crabtree enters the 2012 season with a big question mark over his head. He has had his good moments and his bad moments, due to what appeared to be a lack of motivation. With the addition of depth at his position the fire under him has been lit and it will be interesting to see how he performs for the rest of the year.
