The Oakland Raiders have a short turnaround this week between their Sunday loss in San Diego and their Thursday night matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs at the Coliseum. That means not a lot of healing time—both for those who played against the Chargers and those who did not.
Regardless of whether the Oakland Raiders win a game this season or not, the year is lost. It’s time to look at next season’s roster, anticipating that a new general manager and a new permanent coach will be in charge of the Silver & Black for 2015 and beyond.
The Oakland Raiders defense needs all the help it can get every game, so when three linebackers could possibly miss the next contest, it’s something to be concerned about for the team. This was supposed to be a year where the Raiders would finally have a winning season and possibly challenge for a playoff spot. But under new head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie, the team’s rebuilding efforts were largely unsuccessful. A few players showed promise but overall, it was a frustrating season for the organization and the team’s long suffering fans.
After almost a week of waiting, head coach Dennis Allen makes it official by naming Terrelle Pryor as his starting quarterback in Sunday’s finale at San Diego. Pryor hasn’t started a game since he won the 2011 Sugar Bowl while at Ohio State. Cornerback Philip Adams is on injured reserve with a groin injury and has been replaced by Brandian Ross.
Troubled linebacker Rolando McClain was absent from practice Wednesday for “team related issues.” McClain has been a major disappointment and has seen his playing time drastically reduced since the first month of the season.
